Thanx for nice try, Blackie. Granted, Margolis honestly tried to grasp
the problem - as a Westerner he's completely clueless though. His "The
best solution is the one proposed by the Dalai Lama: Beijing restores
the old `priest-ruler=92 relation****p. Tibet recognizes China=92s
political mastery and military presence, China accepts Tibet=92s genuine
internal autonomy, ceases Han immigration, and allows the Dalai Lama
to return." makes zero sense. Firstly, Dalai Lama became persona non
grata in China now and forever. Not only failed he to control monk
militia during latest unrest in Tibet. As a religious leader he's been
too much involved in politics. Worst of all he asked USA for help ...
it's like Vatican Pope asking Saudi King for help in replacing Russian
Patriarch by Polish Cardinal. Alas, Dalai Lama lost his Buddhist face
and humiliated China in the Chinese Olympic year. This or that way he
must resign. Actually the time is ripe and his successor (=3D Buddha's
next incarnation) has been found in Tibet a few years ago. Now to a
deeper question who has to be in spiritual charge in China. I dunno.
The problem is that Tibetans are not "pure" Buddhists. As half-
Aryans :-) they also have strong militaristic background (see above
SPIEGEL re****t) and thereby pose "material" danger to Chinese
leader****p (whether communist or not - this is fairly irrelevant).
Now the best possible (but least realistic) solution for Tibet would
be to join Lamaist Buryatia in Russia, where "true Lama", aka 12th
Pandito Hambo Lama, apparently reached Nirvana around 1930.

(No, it's not a hoax, and it's the last registered Lama who managed to
reach Nirvana.)
But there is also a realistic solution - we'll make Dalai Lama our
first EU President! For clearly he's brilliant and smart entertainer.
Secondly, Prez of EU will be ridiculous anyway like, say, King of
Norway. Thirdly, EU became so secular that nowadays nobody cares
whether our Prez will be Christian or not. A Jews or a Muslim is not
welcome of course, but a Buddhist might be even better that any
Christian (for we've got several Christian confessions which don't
trust each other). Fourthly, it was EU's Kosovo blackout that
triggered uprising in Tibet and created Dalai Lama's problems. We owe
something to him!
