I wrote "still earlier" - certainly before Nov 1919. In the cartoon Mr
Latvia looks like brainless pawn of foreign interests. In a sense it
was so. As there was Polish-Lithuanian kingdom around, who were
Latvian kings? (Warning: don't write your usual crap about democracy -
I'm talking about old good times :-)  ). Later on, German barons used
to be Mr Latvia's white massas. And as WW1 broke loose Germany chose
to sup****t Lenin and his Latvian slaves, aka Riflemen, in order to
weaken Russian enemy.
