.... that the majority of russkies
still yearn (or yearn again) for the
"glory" of days gone "bye" when
they lived under the (ahem)
Latvian-imposed (and maintained?)
regime. Those were the days featuring
the russkies as a rather slovenly
variety of "Herrenvolk" enjoying the right
(if not outright duty) to demean and exploit
all other cultures that they had captured.
(This is, of course, still ongoing if within
a narrower geographic frame.)
Bit by bit the symbology
of said regime reapears within the
land of the russkies - as does the
mode of behavior of those doing
the "governing" ensconced within
the Kremlin. And, how could it
be otherwise? After all - power in
Russia is exclusively within the hands
of the family of organizations that
were brutally keeping the old regime
in power for those many years.
Sad but I fear that this generation will
not see any positive changes - nor will
the next.
It is not that I much care what russkies
do to each other within "matushka" it
is only when they "reach out to touch
someone" that I get riled.
