Y fun? Russia used to be (and still is) a multinational superstate (if
not always empire) that used to assimilate (and sometimes be ruled by)
different nationals. The only necessary condition was to be an
Orthodox Christian (possibly converted - like Catherina II.). Now
Georgians (like Armenians) used to be Orthodox Christians who lost
their states centuries ago cuz they were just too little & too weak.
Big guys in town were the two Muslim powers Persia (aka Iran) and
Osman's empire (aka Turkey) and one Christian (Orthodox) Russia.
Arguably, Georgians were lucky to escape Armenian-style slaughter by
their Muslim neighbors only because one of their two last kings asked
(some 200 years ago) Russia for protection thus giving up Georgian
(already symbolic by that time) state sovereignty for the sake of
surviving (physical a/o merely cultural). That is, Georgia's state
history is gone many many years ago. It's current reincarnation (by
post-communist Russia) has yet to learn to behave reasonably if it
will to survive in the new time of trouble.
