My counry, as you are aware of, isn't licking USA any more than Sweden,
Germany, Russia or even China. Our previous left-leaning government
wasn't exactly in favour of the Bush regime. While the current one is a
little more US-friendly in its rhetoric and coutresy-visits, our foreign
and security policies haven't changed at all. However with the
experiences eg baltic countries had, who can blame them for choosing the
safest possible security arrangements for them?

The current US government sucks, but that is about to change very soon.
I can come up with plenty of less pleasant allies than the USA.
