Wanni liberation in progress; 29 terrorists killed in clashes
Security forces in offensive operation to liberate Wanni are advancing
further towards LTTE territories inflicting heavy casualties to the
enemy. According to the military re****ts 29 LTTE terrorists were killed
while another 14 were wounded during the clashes erupted at Vavuniya,
Mannar, Weli-Oya defences yesterday, February 05.
In Vavuniya front, troops launched an attack targeting an LTTE bunker at
general area Kallikulam around 2.30 p.m. Ground troops confirmed one
terrorist was killed while another received injuries due to the attack.
At Umayaratuvarankulam, troops launched a pre-dawn attack targeting LTTE
bunker line at 5.15 p.m. Troops confirmed that five terrorists were
killed in this attack.
Separately, troops ambushed an LTTE movement at Periyantrichurchchan
around 4.30 p.m. By intercepting LTTE communication, it is revealed that
four LTTE cadres were killed in this attack.
Meanwhile, three army soldiers were killed and one received injuries in
two separate incidents took place at Pokkaravani and Umayaratuvarankulam
yesterday.
In Mannar front, troops attacked at a group of LTTE terrorists at
Parappakandal around 1.20 p.m. Two terrorists were killed while another
two received injuries due to the attack, re****t said.
Two army soldiers were killed during a confrontation erupted at Adampan
area around 8.30 a.m, re****ts further said.
In Weli-Oya front, a confrontation erupted at Kokkuthuduvai around 1.20
p.m and one terrorists were killed and another two received injuries in
this clash. Seven soldiers also sustained injuries in this attack.
In the same area, troops attacked a group of LTTE terrorists and killed
four cadres around 12 noon yesterday, re****ts said.
A confrontation erupted when the troops launched an attack targeting
LTTE strong points at 1.05 p.m in general area Kokkuthuduvai. By
intercepting the LTTE transmission, it is revealed that five terrorists
were killed while more than six received injuries during confrontation.
Three soldiers were also killed and 14 injured in this clash, re****t
further said.
In Ja****apura, troops launched an attack targeting LTTE bunkers and
killed six terrorists around 11.30 a.m. one soldier was also received
injuries due to the incident.
In a separate confrontation erupted at general area Kadduttaddamalai at
6.00 p.m an LTTE terrorist was killed and 3 cadres received injuries. An
army soldier was also received injuries in this confrontation.
