Defence Spokesperson regrets over decadence of Human Rights groups
Addressing the media today (February 13) in Colombo, Media Spokesman for
National Security, Keheliya Rambukwella recounted with sadness the
taking away of the lives of budding youth and school children in the
very recent past and paid a tribute to the parents, relatives and
colleagues, the schools they came from and the general public who bore
the tragedy, remained calm and refrained from any untoward act such as
expected by the LTTE, in the greater interest of the country.
"One can never forget the eight team members of the same school and
their coach who became victims to the explosion at the Fort Railway
station; the two children who died bomb attack near Nippon Hotel, Slave
Island; and other two schoolchildren killed at Nugegoda bomb blast near
a shopping mall. Another 14 year old child was killed in Akkarapattu
yesterday. These children belonged to all three communities Sinhala,
Tamil, Muslim and it is evident that the LTTE targets all, irrespective
of community, religion, gender or age."
Speaking further, he said that organizations like Amnesty International
were clearly biased in their hue and cry and re****ting and were serving
the interests of another party's agenda.
He also referred to yesterday's incident at the Thalladi Church, where
the LTTE launched an attack on the soldiers who were there on the
invitation of the Church's vicar to clean the premises.
