Baskin to speak on Abraham, Islam

Bernard Baskin, rabbi emeritus of Temple Anshe Sholom in Hamilton, is this
year's honoured
guest at Westdale United Church's distinguished speaker program.
Baskin will deliver an address Sunday on the subject, From Abraham to bin
Laden: Deceptions and
Misconceptions about Islam.
His address caps a series of speakers who recounted the development and
significance of
Abraham's story in each of the Jewish, Christian and Islamic faiths.
Under the title The Tent of Abraham, the lectures emphasized both the
common and distinctive
aspects of the shared heritage of the three faiths.
Baskin, who this year is celebrating the 60th anniversary of his
ordination, has a long and
distinguished career in Hamilton.
He will deliver his lecture, which is open to the general public, at 7:30
p.m. Sunday at
Westdale United Church, 99 North Oval.
