Nothing was spoonfed to me Zhivko. I actually have read most of these
texts myself and in the original. You can do the same as well as some
are readily available in English and at variety of sites. For
example, good chunks of the "Miracles of St. Demetrius" are available
in the Internet and it would be instructive for you to read the
reactions of the citizens of Thessaloniki about the Slavs outside
their walls. I have actually posted parts of this book here in this
forum.

Now, regarding your "salient" point. I do not know why you place so
much im****tance on this. It was not an ethnic designation, it was a
geographic one and it dates really from the 9th century onwards. As
you well know, the emperor Basil I initiated the Macedonian imperial
family. The reason that the family was named thus, ir was because its
founder Basil I was called "the Macedonian". East Roman emperors all
had cognomens and many were geographical. Basil I was born in a
village just around Hadrianople, which was the capital of the "Theme
of Macedonia". Are we going to surmise from these that the medieval
Greeks of the East Roman Empire that revered so much of the Hellenic
past assumed that there was a different ethnicity located around
Hadrianople? Absolutely not. Since you have so many Byzantines from
the area of Philippopolis and Hadrinaople who were called
"Macedonians", why do you even have to refer to a 15th century
do***ent? You can find such references as early as the 8th century,
since the formation of this province.

Anyway, if this "turns you on" all the power to you. People are
getting off on weird things!!
