Hawaiian sovereignty seekers take over palace in Honolulu

HONOLULU (AP) -- A group that doesn't recognize Hawaii as an American
state is trying to take back the islands for Native Hawaiians.
The Hawaiian Kingdom Government group occupied the grounds of a
historic palace in downtown Honolulu, saying it plans to carry out the
business of what it considers the legitimate government.
Unarmed security guards from the group blocked all gates to the
grounds of the palace. The lockdown lasted a couple of hours before
the group decided to step aside. No arrests have been made, but the
director who oversees the palace says that could change.
The group plans to return tomorrow.
