I agree.
It does not change the fact that Burma (Myanmar) is governed by a
military regime that
will greatly benefit from large numbers of deaths in the Delta.
I don't know what you propose to do about it.
The time to fix this was 1962, when the world stood by and allowed a
democratic
nation to be taken over by a military coup. We picked up a torch to
try to prevent Vietnam
from being taken over by communists. Why did we allow Burma to be
taken over by a socialist junta?
I agree that what is being done in Burma is tragic and criminal.
But I don't have any ideas to solve the problem. Why haven't UN
resolutions already been passed allowing the government leaders in
Myanmar to be arrested and charged with human rights crimes? And I
don't mean "since the storm" I mean "since 1962."
All of a sudden people care about Burma. That is sad and tragic in
and of itself. It reminds me of talking about the Taliban in 94 and
95, and realizing that nobody knew at all what I was talking about.
I've been complaining about Burma/Myanmar since the 60s, not since
last week. They will recover from the storm. They might not recover
from the coup.
