1) Many USDA members (civilian wing of ruling military junta) from Bogalay
Town****p (one of the most affected town****ps) were arrested for selling
Zinc
sheets intended for cyclone victims. This case of uncovered when Prime
Minister (General Thein Sein) ordered the USDA members to transfer goods
donated from abroad to another government cor****ation and the staffs from
that cor****ation found out the theft.
2) Some police officers from police outpost near Bogalay Town****p (one of
the most affected town****ps) were also selling rice intended for the
victims
at 600 kyats per 8 condensed-milk cans. It is also known that the military
junta permitted the police to sell the rice.
3) About 5000 cyclone victims from Bogalay Town****p (one of the most
affected town****ps) who are moving to nearby Maupin Town****p were not
allowed to enter four relief centres and peoples who arrived later were
not
allowed to even enter the town****p.
4) About 20 villages from Bogalay Town****p (one of the most affected
town****ps) were completely destroyed. They were Kamakasit, Ahmar,
Kathabaung, Kathamyin, Layyinquin, Puinsalu, Kadonkani, Ayar and some
villages near these villages. Usually only about 6 or 7 peoples were alive
in each village and these peoples only receive about 2 condensed-milk-cans
of rice so far although a large amount of donated foods and goods were
received. Moreover about 25 fi****ng boats were also lost.
5) The junta only recognise as cyclone victims those who are already in
the
relief camps and only they receive small amount of donated goods. Those
who
are living in make****ft huts in their own plots are not recognised as
victims and they do not receive anything although they similarly lost
everything in the cyclone. Many peoples suffering from psychological
trauma
(and are in acute psychotic condition) are seen and no treatment
whatsoever
is given to them.
(1) Military Government has sealed off the disaster area (delta region)
(2) No one goes in and out in that area.
(3) Soldiers and check points are every where.
(4) They stop all the cars, trucks and buses.
(5) If SPDC soldiers find relief supplies, they confiscate the supplies.
(6) SPDC soldiers arrest anyone whose ID card does not belong to that
region.
(7) There are individuals risking their lives to go in there through
jungles, swamp lands, etc. with whatever relief supply they can carry in
their hands.
(8) Massive relief efforts are outlawed.
(9) No one dares to go help.
(10) Donation to shelters requires permission from the SPDC thugs.
(11) Any violators will be beaten by SPDC thugs.
(12) SPDC thugs are searching for people who carrying cameras, camcorders,
etc. and arrest them.
(13) It is a big geographic area but only handful of roads going in and
out
and they seize control of the roads and the area.
(14) Army and polices, are everywhere sup****ted by plain-clothed spies and
thugs armed with machetes, guns, bamboo/wooden sticks, and walkie talkies.
(15) Law enforcement there is NOT to serve people. They are to suppress
the
people. The law enforcement is controlled by the military. Basically, law
enforcement is not our friend.
(16) The situation there is not good and military government does not want
you to see.
(17)Emphasizing to Phyar Pone Town****p, authority declare "curfew" on top
of
"State of Emergency" to forbid not to go out at nights, but they are
dumping
dead bodies to the river at nights.
(18)Today, all the photo shops in yangon were informed by government NOT
to
print any Nargis-related photographs.
(19)2 days ago Khaw Thu (a famous Myanmar actor) was almost beaten up by
Swan Arr ****n and USDA when they were trying to donate relief goods
directly.
(20)In Kyauk Than town****p, 2 monasteries and 1 school (now being used as
tem****ary shelters for storm victims), are forced to move out at latest by
14 May as they are going to use the school and monastery as the voting
station.
(21) Regarding rescue missions, 1 Red Cross ****p sank. 1 helicopter was
down.
