Aural acoustic stimulation has the same effect:

Any musician or dancer can tell you that a Largo or Lento tempo (0.66
to 1 Hz) will relax and calm a person (inhibit or slow motor
activity), while a Prestissimo tempo (~3.4 Hz) is energizing
(facilitative to motor activity). A 5Hz tempo (Assai Prestissimo)
would be a little too much for most performers.
The effect is most apparent when one witnesses a well-scripted
tarantella with gradually increasing tempo.
