MANILA (OPAPP/02 April) -- Presidential Peace Adviser Jesus Dureza is
leading the 10-member Philippine delegation to the 4th Asia Pacific
Interfaith Dialogue this week in Cambodia, as organizers explore inter-
religious dialogues to attain peace and harmony through respect,
tolerance, understanding, communication, and strengthening of
relation****ps.

The theme for the three-day regional gathering in the Cambodian
capital is "Phnom Penh Dialogue 2008 on Interfaith Cooperation for
Peace and Harmony," a follow-up to last year's 3rd Asia Pacific
dialogue in New Zealand.

The fourth interfaith dialogue in Phnom Penh this year and the third
meeting at New Zealand's Waitangi Bay of Islands in May 2007 come
after the second meet in Mactan, Cebu in March 2006 and the first one
in Yogyakarta, Indonesia in December 2004.

The Cambodian Ministry of Cults and Religions bared that the
interfaith dialogue will be held at Hotel Inter-continental along Mao
Tse Toung Blvd., Phnom Penh on April 3-6, 2008.

The office of the Senior Minister for Cults and Religions has noted
that it is a great honor for Cambodia to be the host country this year
in the series of Asia Pacific interfaith dialogues.

The ministry further said Cambodia has also been fortunate to be able
to attend this im****tant dialogue starting from Indonesia, the
Philippines, and New Zealand.

Aside from Secretary Dureza of the Office of the Presidential Adviser
on the Peace Process (OPAPP), the delegation is composed of Ambassador
Lourdes Morales as Philippine envoy to Cambodia, Secretary-General
Isabel Tobias of the Presidential Council on Values Formation (PCVF),
and Director Romeo Montenegro of the OPAPP Media and Public Affairs
Service.

The delegation is also composed of Executive Director Hadja Jainab
Abdulmajid of the Sulu Provincial Disaster Coordinating Council and
Dr. Hamid Aminodden Barra of the Philippine Council for Islam and
Democracy (PCID).

Two of the 13 delegates to the Waitangi dialogue last year will be in
Phnom Penh this year. They are Archbishop Antonio Ledesma of the
Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro City and Bishop Efraim Tendero of the
Philippine Council for Evangelical Churches.

The other delegates to the Cambodia dialogue are Bishop Hilario Gomez
Jr. of the Protestants National Churches of the Philippines and Ms.
Faith Bautista of the Department of Foreign Affairs. (OPAPP)
