Football: Young Lions advance to Singapore Cup quarter-finals
SINGAPORE: The Young Lions advanced to the quarter-finals of the 2008
RHB Singapore Cup with a 2-0 win over Cambodia's Phnom Penh Empire in
their first-round tie at the Jalan Besar Stadium on Tuesday night.
The game was a bittersweet one for the Young Lions' Isa Halim, as the
Singapore international midfielder led his team out on to the pitch.
Skipper Khairul Amri was left out so as to avoid him being cup-tied
later in the campaign, as he is slated to move to another club during
the mid-season transfer window.
Vice-captain Isa opened the scoring in the 35th minute when he steered
a low shot across Cambodian keeper Samreth Seiha into bottom right
corner of the net.
Yan Minghao doubled the Young Lions' lead just before half-time.
Sadly for Isa, two yellow cards in the last 10 minutes of the match
took the shine off his night. I Am: A Man A Woman Looking for: A

The 21-year-old was cautioned by referee P. Pandian for a bad tackle
in the 81st minute, and he was shown his second yellow three minutes
later for handball.
