Cuba and Bolivia Sign Economic Agreement

Havana, Nov 22 (acn) Cuba and Bolivia are moving forward in terms of
economic and trading relations as representatives of the two countries
recently signed a complementary economic agreement in La Paz, Bolivia.

Cuban Vice Minister of Foreign Commerce, Pedro Luis Padron, told Prensa
Latina that the agreement will facilitate access to the international
market, among other issues, while showing closer relations with Bolivia.

The Cuban official said the agreement is based on a zero-tax
sales-purchase policy, one of the most im****tant benefits, part of the
Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas (ALBA) and the Trade Treaty for
the People (TCP), signed by the two governments.

Other items in the deal cover chapters related to economic norms, and
others related to the resolution of conflicts and health matters.

Padron mentioned food and textiles as the main products for the
commercial exchange, which closed 2006 with more than 50 million
dollars in sales.

For her part, Celinda Sosa, the Bolivian Minister for production and
small enterprises stressed the possibilities for development in the
production sector provided by the ALBA-TCP agreements.

Sosa said the participation of small Bolivian companies at the recently
concluded International Trade Fair of Havana and of Cuban enterprises
in those of Cochabamba and Santa Cruz, shows the increasing economic
exchange between the two countries.
