UNICEF to Lead New Projects in Cuba
Camagey, Nov 22 (acn) New projects for international cooperation led
by UNICEF will be carried out in Cuba in 2008, based on the 7-year
experiences and practices of local reference centers about children's
rights.
The announcement was made during a national workshop for the promotion
of children and teenagers' rights underway in Camaguey, with the
participation of UNICEF's technical staff and provincial coordinators.
The representative of the United Nation's body in Cuba, Arsenio Garcia,
told ACN that the search for efficient and constant communication will
continue the coming year with the objective of providing better
orientation to families.
Garcia commented on UNICEF's contributions to the training of
multi-sector teams and the community on respecting children's rights,
against violence and encouraging, developing and strengthening actions
in favor of children and teenagers.
On the first working day of the workshop, participants analyzed the
objectives, outcomes, effects and future activities to be held by Cuban
reference centers.
Ana Audiver Coello, national coordinator of the Children's Rights
Reference Center, said one of the main objectives of the institution is
to foster normal development of the child by means of their daily
activities, as its mission is to promote the International Convention
on Children's Rights.
