International Day in Solidarity with Palestine Celebrated in Cuba
Havana, Nov 30 (acn) Ibrahim Mohamed Alzeben, ambassador of the State
of Palestine in Havana, praised the existing relations between Cuba and
Palestine and described them as historic during a ceremony held on
Thursday at the venue of the Cuban Friend****p Institute (ICAP) in the
Cuban capital to commemorate the International Day in Solidarity with
this Arab nation.
"The Palestinian people are in a new battlefield defending their right
to a dignified life," said the diplomat in reference to the ongoing
process of negotiations with Israel, which occupies the Palestinian
territory with the sup****t of the United States.
"The creation of the Palestinian State, the right of Palestinian
refugees to return to their territories and the designation of
Jerusalem as its capital, are essential aspects to attain peace between
the sides," stressed Mohamed Alzeben.
He also demanded the release of all Palestinian prisoners and the
elimination of the wall that makes the Arab people prisoners in their
own land.
For his part, ICAP vice president Enrique Roman said that Palestine
will always have the sup****t and solidarity of the Cuban people.
Also present in the ceremony were Kenia Serrano, Coordinator for Africa
and the Middle East at the Central Committee of Cuba's Communist Party;
Arab and African ambassadors in Havana and members of the Cuban-Arab
Association, among others.
In 1977, the UN General Assembly agreed to hold the International Day
in Solidarity with the Palestinian People on November 29th.
