Venezuela Reform Fight Continues
Caracas, Dec 12 (Prensa Latina) The Federation of Spokespersons of the
Indigenous Municipalities Councils of Venezuela Cacique Guaicaipuro
will persist in the attempt to obtain approval of a constitutional
reform proposed by President Hugo Chavez.
The representative of the ethnic Wayuu, Ever Gonzalez, told media
Wednesday that the organization will bring attorneys to each town to
discuss in detail the legal ramifications of the project of socialist
character.
In the name of the 24 indigenous populations, Gonzalez said that, while
those opposed to the modification of the Constitution won by a narrow
margin on Dec 2, the vast majority of indigenous citizens voted in
favor.
The spokesman told Prensa Latina that for that reason they will join
forces with social movements to re-launch the reform through collecting
signatures of 15 percent of the voters.
