Havana, Jan 9 (acn) January 8 marks a special day for Angola and Cuba,

During the gathering, held Tuesday, to commemorate the 50th anniversary
of the Cuban Revolution, Pedro Ross Leal highlighted the contribution
made by Cuba to the Angolan liberation struggle, which was consolidated
with the shedding of Cuban blood in the battles of Ebo, Kifangondo and
in the mountains of Quibala, which stopped the occupation of the
country by invading forces, Angopress reported.
Ross Leal recalled the islands advancements in different social and
economic fields over the past 50 years and said that Cuban economy grew
7.5 percent in 2007. At present, there are some 37, 500 Cuban
professionals in 70 countries of the world, he said.
The ceremony was attended by Angolan National Assembly Speaker, Roberto
de Almeida, members of the ruling MPLA party's leadership, diplomats
and Cuban citizens residing in Angola.
