Bob is right in that there was Scottish migration to the continent, and in

big numbers at that, and that Grieg's paternal ancestors were Scots.
However
it doesn't really account for any similarity between the sound of Scottish

speakers and Scandinavians. Rather than Scots influencing Scandinavian
speech it was much more the other way round. The long established language

of Lowland Scotland is called Scots. It derives originally from
Northumbrian
which was a dialect of Anglo-Saxon. It was later heavily influenced by the

Anglo-Danish of the northern English Danelaw. Added to that the far
northern
dialects of Scots are themselves superimposed on top of what was a Norn
(ie
Norwegian) speaking base and are still heavily influenced by that former
language. Even Scots who speak only Scottish Standard English are speaking
a
Standard English influenced by the Scots language. It would be unusual if
Scottish speakers didn't sound something like Scandinavian speakers. As
for
Ulster well of course there is a dialect of Scots spoken in Ulster called
Ulster Scots!
