The mistake would be which country tried to change
the current status of Taiwan. If the CCP were to enjoy
a successful Olympics, they would take that as a sign
the world considers their govt /and/ their claim on Taiwan
to be legitimate in the eyes of the world.

China, by hosting the Olympics, has unknowingly entered
into a war with the west, a war to win world opinion.

China is losing. They should give up now before it's too late.

All good news from the Olympics will be considered phony
propaganda, anything else is bad publicity for the CCP.

They can't win!  Their lack of democratic/political skills
has lead them into a trap and a no-win situation.
I find it amusing to think that Beijing figured they could
win a war for world opinion with the west.

What are they stupid, or just naive when it comes to
politics?
