One point which may be significant.

The western media keep saying protest in Lhasa had turned violent.
However, so far no footage of protest had turned up., only footage of
senseless violence and destruction were shown so far. It is likley
that
violence was planned from the beginning trying to provoke a harsh
response from the authority.
