Nah.  The overhead is too high.  You gotta supervise them, discipline
them, 
make them do an honest job, solve their little day-to-day problems for
them, 
keep them from molesting the civilians, and so on.  A big headache.  It's 
simpler just to shoot them.

As Hitler found out, though, when you round people up and shoot them there

are some serious logistical problems involving disposal of the bodies. 
With 
today's global climate change sensitivities, smoky old furnaces just
aren't 
going to be allowed.  Imagine the management problems you'd encounter
while 
trying to run a "green" death camp.
