"Tibet WAS, IS, and ALWAYS WILL BE a part of China"
This is a slide show posted by a Chinese "patriot", the contents
represented the "reasoning" with "historical facts" to justify the
continuous colonization of Tibet by most mainland Chinese.
Let me list the Chinese "Facts" and refute them with my view one by one
The author says fact no. 1 "China is not a single ethnic nation, in fact
56 ethnic groups made up China. . . ."
I say: many countries are also not single ethnic nation, including
former USSR and Yugoslavia, Where are they now ? their passing proved
that the "unification" by force cannot achieve lasting peace.
The author says fact no. 2 "Tibet has been part of China for thousands
of years."
I say: Your history is very wrong, it is interesting that you started
the mention of Yuan Dynasty (AD 1271-1368) If you counting from 1271,
it's only 729 years from 2008, it's far from your "thousands of years.",
regardless of your poor math ability, I don't think the Mongol rulers of
Yuan dynasty had ever considered themselves as Chinese. As a matter of
fact, the Mongol ruling class of Yuan viewed Tibetans with much higher
esteem above the Han Chinese then. Can we say China had been part of
Mongolia for "thousands of years"? or travel back further in history,
during China's most prosperous period of The Great Tang Dynasty, do you
know the fact that near the peak of the Tang Dynasty, Tibetan Army had
once captured Tang's capital Chang'an (Today's Xian) in the year of AD
764. Shall we say "China has been part of Tibet for "thousands of
years?" For your education, as late as 1949, Tibet was a sovereign
nation. your crooked history education made you believe otherwise.
Talking about legitimacy of China's rule of Tibet, shall we take a vote,
how many Tibetan, Uighur, Mongol or any of the 55 minority nations will
choose to be China's "privileged" minorities ? My questions to you is:
Does the Chinese government enjoy the confidence of a legitimate
government ?
The Slide Show Fact no.3: "1903AD British gained control over Tibet as a
colonial Region"
I Say: The following historical fact is quoted from Wikipedia "The
British expedition to Tibet in 1903 and 1904 was actually an armed
invasion of Tibet by British Indian forces, seeking to prevent the
Russian Empire from interfering in Tibetan affairs and thus gaining a
foothold in one of the buffer states surrounding British India, under
similar reasoning which had led British forces into Afghanistan twenty
years before. Whilst British forces were remarkably successful in
achieving their aims militarily, politically the invasion was very
unpopular back in Britain, where it was virtually disowned post-war. The
effects on Tibet, despite higher casualties and some economic
disruption, were also not significant, and any changes were not long
retained. However, unfortunately for the Tibetans, in 1910 the Chinese
army re-entered Tibet and established their dominance over the region. "
I have no need to defend the past wrongs had done byBritish colonists,
but I do protest China's colonizing Tibet in 2008. Free Tibet now !
Fact no.4 of the slide show: "Prior to 1950, when Chinese regained
Tibet, Tibet was still in a slavery society under Dalai Lama's puppet
regime."
I Ask: After nearly 60 years of "liberation", The Chinese have created
new batch of Chinese slaves in the 21st century, do Chinese have no
shame in talking about other's old sins?
