AN ANSWER TO SODA CHANH: WHY THE LAND REFORM ?

by Elchinoboatconscience@[EMAIL PROTECTED] Mar 24, 2008 at 09:34 PM

Let me sum up the pattern:
a. Land Reform: Landowners
b. Tram Hoa Dua No: Counter-revolutionary criticism of the Party,
writers/poets who are labeled as Party heretics
c. Hue: Those who incurred blood debt from the People
d. Post-1975 Re-education camp: ARVN officers.
e. Post-1975 New Economic Zone: Tainted bourgeois who are required to
learn the value of labor
f. Post-1975 Confiscation and de****tation of ethnic Chinese merchants
THE 6 POINTS MENTIONED ABOVE by Soda Chanh were an illustration of
what the VCP had done to implement a totalitarian control of the
Vietnamese Society. They all occurred during the Patriotic Wars for
Independence and for Unification(1945-1975 a,b,c) plus a 10 year post
war period of Pactification and building socialism (d,e,f),under a
background of antiChinese and anti Kmer Rouge's attempts at
expansion .
Why the Land Reform ?
Vietnam was and is an overpopulated country with very small plots of
land therefore did not have a landlord class as in Russia and Latin
America . At the beginning of the War against the French, The VCP had
to implement the land reform to convince the landless peasant class
which accounted for 80% of the population that they are the new
masters of the land. This was brutal and bloody but was effective.
By participating in the barbaric rite of denunciation of a few tens
thousands landlords, the number of executed landlords was 10 times
smaller, The peasants felt they are the new Masters.
* The Vietnamese Proletariat (i.e., non farm workers)was
minuscule and had very small impact on the Final Victory. In fact
all of the principal leaders of the VCP including Ho Chi Minh, Pham
Van Dong, Truong Chinh, Vo Nguyen Giap, Le Duc Tho, Le Duan , nguyen
Chi Thanh, nguyen van linh, all came from a hybrid class of middle
peasant owning less than 2 acres of rice field and of the class of
minor officials serving the French Colonial power. None of them were
working peasant knowing how to till the lands except General Nguyen
Chi Thanh. In this respect their background was not different from
that of the leader****p of the nationalist parties like Vietnamese
Koumingtang (VNQDD), Greater Vietnam (Daiviet). So the Reason the
VCP successfully led the 3 Patriotic Wars against the French, USA and
Chinese/Kmer Rouge and the other "nationalist" parties failed
miserably was the Land Reform. The "Nationalists" not only could
not create a single base or fought a single battle against the
Imperialists lend themselves quickly to the latter's services to,
according to their ineffective propaganda , extinguish the much
greater peril of Soviet/Chinese Imperialism.
El Chino Strongly believe that the success of the VCP was due
decisively to the agrarian reform.
Background: While the VCP were accused by the "Nationalists" of
"betraying" the landless peasants who had spill so much blood for the
Victory by placing all of the lands into the control of Cooperatives
instead of dividing to each peasant a small parcel of less than 0.1
acre each in the South or 0.05 acre each in the North. Without saying
the cooperative model was disastrous for Vietnam resulting in food
penury and malnutrition and was instrumental in pu****ng Doimoi which
In the last 15 years allowed the most entrepreneurial peasant to rent
up to 10 acres of land for a period of 5 years for exploitation.
This simple step had prompted Vietnam into the Third Ex****ter of Rice
in the World.
