Robert M¨¦nard is a man with a mission. The founder and secretary-general
of "Re****ters Sans Fronti¨¨res", or "Re****ters Without Borders", is
calling for a boycott of the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympic
Games. He was one of three protestors who disrupted the traditional
lighting of the Olympic flame to protest at what they say is human
rights abuse in Tibet and China. Not the best publicity for a country
hoping to show the world a positive image during the Beijing games.
Robert M¨¦nard tells EuroNews that mixing politics with the Olympics has
become inevitable, especially when China is the host.

On March 10, 2008, the Tibetan Freedom Movement launched its global
Tibetan People's Uprising. In New York City, thousands of Tibetans and
Tibet sup****ters gathered at City Hall early in the morning and then
marched to the United Nations. Tibetans inside and outside Tibet have
begun a series of nonviolent direct actions including a return march to
Tibet. The Chinese military has since cracked down on the Tibetan people
and over 100 Tibetans have been killed inside Tibet. The Tibetan People
demand the Chinese Government allow H.H. the Dalai Lama, the spiritual
leader of the Tibetan people, to return to his homeland Tibet.
Demonstrators ask for the release of hundreds of political prisoners,
and for China to stop its Colonial rule and population transfer, which
is wiping out what remains of Tibetan culture inside the country. The
Tibetan People have also called for a boycott of the opening ceremony of
the Beijing Olympics. Until Tibet is free and the Chinese government
puts a stop to its human rights abuses, China does not deserve to host
the Beijing 2008 Olympics. One world¡ªone dream¡ªFree Tibet now.
