Tibet was a part of China long before the PLA arrived in 1950.
USA, UK, USSR, India all recognized this fact.

This was what Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru said in 1954
"Over the past several hundred years, as far as
I know, at no time has any foreign country denied China's
sovereignty
 over Tibet."

China have been accused of invading itself. A lie repeated 1000s of
time become the truth to some people.

Most Tibetans were serfs before 1949. They work for the aristocrates
without pay and their children were traded like consumer goods.
Typically people in the west live comfortabley and wish that the rest
of the world don't change so that they can travel around and look at
the mess in the 3rd world and feel good about themselves.
