Tibetan exiles protest at W. House
Mar. 31 - Tibetan exiles living in the Wa****ngton gathered across from
the White House to demand that President George W. Bush condemn Chinese
repression and boycott the opening ceremonies of this summer's Beijing
Olympics.
The protest by the Capital Area Tibetan Association is timed to coincide
with the opening of the Olympic torch relay in Beijing. The exiles
believe recent acts of repression by Chinese authorities have given them
a chance to bring attention to Tibet.

NTDTV Re****ts : Thousands Attend Munich's Tibetan Freedom Torch Relay
And over in Munich, Germany, another group is protesting the Beijing
Olympics with their own torch run as well. This group--mostly Tibetan
exiles--is saying the Chinese regime has broken its promises to improve
human rights and freedom of the press.
STORY:
The alternative torch relay ?Tibetan Freedom Torch" has arrived in
Munich. More than 2000 thousand exiled Tibetans and German sup****ters
are gathered on Marienplatz.
The Olympic Gold medallist Dieter Bauman, the President of the German
Green Party Claudia Roth, and the German Actor Ralf Bauer, participate
in a public demonstration, demanding the Chinese Communistic Regime to
stop the killings in Tibet.
Claudia Roth calls upon the German Chancellor and Foreign Minister, to
express more clearly the reason why they will not attend the Beijing
Olympics. She also says that sponsoring companies such as Volkswagen and
Adidas must also take responsibility in improving human rights in China.
Claudia Roth urges the International Olympic Committee to stop keeping
silent. That they must demand the Chinese Communistic Regime to improve
human rights.
[Claudia Roth, German Green Party] :
"The Thai s****tswoman, who quit the Olympic Torch Relay, said very well:
'No, I will not carry this torch; I don't want to be a supernumerary in
an event, when at the same time human rights are violated. When I know
that British s****tsmen must sign contracts where they abstain from
making any political statements, then I really must say: Oh excuse me!,
every person has the right to express their political opinion, even if
you are a s****tsman' ."
Ralf Bauer reminds us that 8 years ago, when China applied to host the
Olympic Games, they promised to give media freedom and improve human
rights in China.
[Ralf Bauer, German Actor]:
"We should remind them that this should not only be an empty phrase,
they must also take action. As a s****tsman, it is an honour to carry the
Olympic torch. Before, they have also asked me but I denied. In this
case I would deny it even more. I find we should boycott it, there are
so many reasons."
Now after the gathering, more than 800 people are participating in the
parade with the Tibetan Freedom Torch, which heads toward the Olympic
Centre, where the Munich Olympics were held back in 1972.
This is Nilsson, NTDTV, Munich, Germany.
