Chen vs Ma....on relation****p with China. Will Chen declare

by baldeagle <botakeagle@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Apr 1, 2008 at 07:57 PM

Chen has wasted 8 years, wasted his energies and efforts, on the
indepedence issue for Taiwan,... he neglected the economy and the
welfare of Taiwanese. Taiwanese had enough of his nonsense and had
convincingly kicked him and dumped his party out parliarment.

Chen met Ma, the President elect, and their 90 mins meeting was
televised live. In the last days of his presidency, he still tried to
push his independence agenda on TV. He advocate continued cold war
with China. Taiwan should continue to serve as an unsinkable aircraft
carrier for the USA, and ... must not recognise the "1992 concensus",
the basis on which China and Taiwan agreed to meet when their talk was
held in Singa****e.

Ma rejected Chen's cold war mentality outright. Under Chen, Taiwan
missed op****tunities in China...Taiwanese suffered high
unemployment,,..and suffered hard****ps. Chen's way ended in failure
and rejected by the people.

According to Ma, Taiwan must change course. He will cultivate good and
cordial relation****p with China which would bring economic and social
benefits to Taiwanese. Ma said: "we've different ways to deal with
China. Now it's our turn, and we'll have the op****tunity to try our
way."

Chen lost this encounter with Ma. But like a card cheat, he still
has an ace up his sleeves.

He could formally declare independence for Taiwan, before he steps
down in May. He gamble that China will NOT use force to reunite
Taiwan, because of the Olympic games. Even if China gave up the
Olympics, and send PLA to retake Taiwan, he gamble the USA would be
forced to come his aid...
He could then suspend the consitution, declare military rule...and
continue to rule as the president of independent Taiwan.

Will Chen be amibitious enough to declare independence for Taiwan ?
..
