Human irrationality may have its bright side...

by "fyfpoon@[EMAIL PROTECTED] " <fyfpoon@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Apr 10, 2008 at 01:21 AM

In my view, it is fair to say that the political development in China,
on the surface at least, lags behind its economic development. Of
course, this statement can only be made from observation and cannot be
sup****ted by any quantitative gadgets.

In the world of sensation-sells media, a lot of accusations at China
such as the annexation of Tibet in 1950 are sheerly China ba****ng.
But the audience like it and this is why the suppliers of information
produce what the buyers want to buy. Many or I would say most of
these information buyers are not well informed of the situation and
are too intellectually lazy to look up what they want to know in the
libraries but simply go with the emotion-loaded crowd and act as cheer
leaders.

However, such actions of folly may have a positive side. At least the
leaders in Beijing are aware that human irrationality of the voters in
democratic nations, regardless if something is true or not, can
influence the opinions and actions in democratic nations with which
China is interacting. On that basis, words such as freedom, democracy
and human rights may no longer be that 'avoided' or 'sidelined' by
those in authority. Words are power, and from power comes the
action...
