1. The Cultural Revolution lasted 10 years and caused untold damage. The 
"feedback" mechanism was evidently damaged.

2. When Deng was brought back to power by the PLA (feedback mechanism 
showing some effect) he had to make a deal with the devil -- economic 
policy changes but keeping the one party state.

3. Again and again the Chinese have tried to make the feedback system 
work, only to find themselves in jail or worse.
