Another Thought Experiment
An adult named Mr. Zig sits at his computer, which is connected to the
internet.
An adult named Mr. Zag also sits at his computer, which is also connected
to
the internet.
Mr. Zig and Mr. Zag are identical. Their computers are identical (and
excellent).
The only difference between them is that Mr. Zigıs internet connection
goes
to Mr. Who, who personally and with filtering technology decides which web
pages Mr. Zig is able to see. Mr. Who also decides what Mr. Zig may post
on
bulletin boards. Mr. Who even reads Mr. Zigıs email (incoming and
outgoing)
and sometimes decides not to deliver it.
Meanwhile Mr. Zagıs internet connection is not filtered in any way by
anyone.
Who would you like to be: Mr. Zig or Mr. Zag?
Parents often filter their childrenıs use of the Internet and prisons
often
filter their prisonersı use of the Internet. But Mr. Zig and Mr. Zag are
law
abiding adults.
A followup question: Is the internet connect of law abiding Chinese adults
living in the PRC more like Mr. Zigıs or Mr. Zags?
