Well it does mean that we get to see a ballot box once in a while. It
does mean that the army is never turned against the people. It does
mean that officials are democratically accountable, that governments
change peacefully, that the peoples of one region don't become
subserviant to the peoples of another or subserviant to anybody. It
means that we can openly challenge those in authority. We live under
the rule of law enforced by a politcally independent judiciary.

Don't you feel a little envious?

You can never take your place in a wider world until you learn to be a
little bit nicer to each other.
