Dear CK:
Good points, lets get back at work to the end to gain an apology from
a nobody in China's radar. This Jack guy has already lost credibility
from his "off the wall" implied remarks with his unfound opinion about
China and her people. Now, he has been blacklisted amongst USA and
China business communities and some of his colleagues are avoiding
him. Nobody will pay him any mind, not in USA, or aboard. Pretty soon,
he will lose his job, and working in a Chinese restaurant as a waiter.
He is just a pedant trying to make a living running his mouth at the
CNN's Wa****ngton Bureau. He especially amongst other journalists love
the smell of Blood, and wi****ng China falling down or getting in big
trouble. The Chinese will not fall for the trap. We (Chinese) are the
one who wrote their ( Foreigners) battle script and plan "The Art of
War".
This episode will be blown over, if not, will be soon, indeed, it has
died down. RTHK of Kong Kong no longer have this story as News or
covers it or DJ and guests willingly giving their opinions and
counterpoints. Just let the sleeping dog lie. Jack is done. His lips
will be tight and seal when comes to China or Chinese synonym.
Lets let the evidence speaks for itself and allow China's agenda to
work towards her 5 year plan and goal set out last October First in
People's Congress in Tiananmen Square, Beijing, where countless
delegates from each Province and Autonomous region of the greater
China came and listen to President Hu and other notable Chinese
leader****p's vision for China's next five year. China has surprised
many observers including the guy name Jack, and common people like you
and me. China is an amazing nation ever to come after 30 years of
isolation and then 30 years of unprecedented progress ever witness by
humankind. You may call China a
"Comeback Kid" or a "Miracle Kid"
We can not legislate behavior, thoughts, and speech of the
individuals. We now know that this Jack guy done it to himself.
Whether the apology that we wanted will ever come is not im****tant, it
is how we handle ourselves and out do them in every categories that
will be most effective.
Best Regards,
Koo Yuen

I do not think CNN has apologized at all. Cafferty has often critized
the Bush administration but he has never dared to call them a bunch of
goons and thugs. If leaders of the respected leaders of the Chinese
people are goons and thugs, what then are the people? Saying that his
remarks were directed to the Chinese Government, not to the people is
actually a worse insult. If we accept the apology, CNN may be
laughing at our back. I'm glad the Chinese Government has not
accepted the apology. I believe we should not either.

A copy of this message has been sent to Mr. Jack Cafferty c/o Mr. Wolf
Blitzer in The CNN Situation Room program on CNN's website and Blind
copy to other Chinese contacts in my list.
Dear Lan and other on this email page:
I believe we maybe overkill on balloting and petitions signing. It is
over and done. Result is in without the Chinese firing any warning
shots.
Hope the following link offer some comfort and reconciliation to the
Chinese people.

The Chinese government can do some damages to CNN by using many
avenues including blacken out CNN for good in China's cable and airway
which serves over 1 billions informed and educated viewers, block the
internet access on their (CNN) website to the expats audience at home
and encourage the Chinese citizens at home and aboard to view Euro
News, or BCC or other foreign countries media who demonstrated
neutrality and exercising fair re****ting on China's affairs and her
people. This maybe the reason they (CNN) volunteer to control damages,
and avoid hurting their revenue without much fireworks, retreat on an
immediate basis by offering a partial apology after the Chinese
Government and many responsible Chinese citizens group and descendants
at home and aboard went to work on this "hot" issue. Lesson is learned
for Jack Cafferty's arrogant, and his ignorant position on China and
amongst other things he lack of. He exposed himself to the fair minds
and peace loving Chinese people everywhere and non-Chinese as well in
the Continent of both North and South Americas, Australia, Europe,
Africa, Asia, and Antarctica when Mr. Cafferty made those personal,
emotional comments, envy attitude, and negative feelings of his, some
how he can't control himself, burst out unconsciencely and out of
control in the Wolf Blitzer show.
Obviously, the Chinese government and the Chinese people worldwide
still exercising their balance act to the finest by restraining
themselves from any retaliation towards CNN or towards Jack Cafferty.
I am not sure CNN had solve their problem by presenting an official
apology for the Chinese people and not to the Chinese government is
acceptable by the Chinese at large. Chinese people always have an
attitude of "Let bygone be Bygone". The CNN apology which I believe is
half delivered without having CNN losing "Face". I believe if Jack
Cafferty is not fired by CNN when the dust is settled, he is done in
this News broadcasting business, his lost is he himself to blame. Mark
my words, our job is done on this guy: to his dying day, he will
volunteer refrain from saying "CHINESE or CHINESE related words" in
public, or when there is more than one to engaged in a dialog, what he
does in his own closet alone is none of our business.
Come to think about it, judging from his small almond shaped eyes in
his face and dark hairs on his head, he might be a "problem child" for
all I know, who born to a beautiful Chinese Parent (could be Mom or
Dad ( if Dad is Chinese, his name is changed later or adopted), but
definitely not both parents are Chinese or Far-East Asian origin), the
only other reason, the way he feel about Chinese, he must despise his
other half Asian origin or born without Chinese or Far- East Asian
parents, but naturally, he born having a Chinese featured face.
To make Mr. Cafferty's sickness, and his inferiority complex go-away
and his narrow view broader on the Chinese people, or China as a
nation, and for him to learn about China's proud history, may I make a
suggestion to the Chinese people each to give Mr. Cafferty a minute
****tion of their resources to pool together to be enough to allow this
guy (Jack) to buy a round-trip airfare flying first class on Southern
China Airway from Los Angeles to Guangzhou. When he landed in
Guangdong Province, give him enough Yuans to live on and for him to
experience the existing freedom to travel freely in China, put him up
in some five stars or better rated hotels and lodgings for one month
as the Chinese citizens can do the same freely domestically, the same
as in USA for those guys who can pay the bills. In alternative, ask
him for a contribution ( Not sure how much his annual salary from CNN
( not available from the USA GOVT information Act)), I am sure Mr.
Cafferty can afforded if he is not over his head with debts and
problems of his own to enable himself, paying his way without any
Charity from the Chinese to have an organized tour or self-tour to
visit the "People's Republic of China" (Mainland that is) leisurely,
to visit China's many Mega cities that have leaped forward in the past
30 years, and of course, the countryside for him to go back in time 20
or 30 years if he can find such evidence replica some parts of the
Appalachian region and some shabby towns and cities across the USA. He
might be surprised in his findings when roaming this land of China,
instead, she is 20 or 30 year ahead of the world, not limited to her
constructions, infrastructures, neighborhoods, technologies and alike,
not mentioning the Olympic venue gathering places, and the beautiful
boys and girls, men and women living in the "Middle Kingdom"
peacefully and freely by minding their own businesses.

Koo Yuen

(CNN) -- The Chinese Foreign Ministry demanded Tuesday that CNN's Jack
Cafferty apologize for remarks he made last week, in which he called
the Chinese 'goons and thugs' and said products manufactured in China
are 'junk.'
'Cafferty used the microphone in his hands to slander China and the
Chinese people (and) seriously violated professional ethics of
journalism and human conscience,' Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang
Yu said Tuesday, according to China's state-run Xinhua news agency.
She said Cafferty's remarks 'reflected his arrogance, ignorance and
hostility towards the Chinese people, ignited indignation of Chinese
(at) home and abroad and will be condemned by those who safeguard
justice around the world.'
CNN issued a statement Tuesday saying: 'We are aware of concerns about
Jack Cafferty's comments related to China in the context of the
upcoming Olympics, which were broadcast on The Situation Room on April
9, 2008.
'CNN would like to clarify that it was not Mr. Cafferty's, nor CNN's,
intent to cause offense to the Chinese people, and [CNN] would
apologize to anyone who has interpreted the comments in this way.
'CNN is a network that re****ts the news in an objective and balanced
fa****on. However, as part of our coverage we also employ commentators
who provide robust opinions that generate debate.
'On this occasion Jack was offering his strongly held opinion of the
Chinese government, not the Chinese people --- a point he subsequently
clarified on The Situation Room on April 14.
'It should be noted that over many years, Jack Cafferty has expressed
critical comments on many governments, including the U.S. government
and its leaders.'
Cafferty, who appears daily on CNN's 'The Situation Room,' made the
remarks as host Wolf Blitzer was comparing today's China to that of 20
or 30 years ago.
'I don't know if China is any different, but our relation****p with
China is certainly different,' Cafferty said. 'We're in hock to the
Chinese up to our eyeballs because of the war in Iraq, for one thing.
They're holding hundreds of billions of dollars worth of our paper. We
are also running hundreds of billions of dollars' worth of trade
deficits with them, as we continue to im****t their junk with the lead
paint on them and the poisoned pet food and ex****t, you know, jobs to
places where you can pay workers a dollar a month to turn out the
stuff that we're buying from Wal-Mart.
'So I think our relation****p with China has certainly changed,' he
said. 'I think they're basically the same bunch of goons and thugs
they've been for the last 50 years.'
He issued a clarification of his remarks on Monday's 'Situation Room,'
saying that by 'goons and thugs,' he meant the Chinese government, not
the Chinese people. It was unclear whether China's Foreign Ministry
was aware of the clarification when it held the Tuesday news
conference.
In the days following his remarks, however, the Legal Immigrant
Association launched an online petition condemning his statements as
'racist' and 'despicable' and demanding that CNN discipline Cafferty
and apologize to the Chinese people. Nearly 45,000 people had signed
it as of Tuesday afternoon.
In the petition, the association describes itself as 'a leading
organization of legal immigrants mainly comprised of people from
China.' According to its Web site, the nonprofit group is based in
Santa Clara, California, and was founded in 2007 as an organization
'dedicated to the social well-being of employment-based immigrant
professionals.'
The state-run English-language newspaper China Daily also said in an
editorial Tuesday that an apology is called for, calling Cafferty
'pathetic' and noting, 'it is rare for the world audience to hear such
a blatant discrimination against an ethnic group of people with such a
derogatory connotation.'
Others angered by Cafferty's remarks were urging a boycott of CNN's
advertisers.
