Interesting that you should say that because I have been thinking of
writing a book about shogi and a book about my "Killer Damiano's
Defense".
There are two good beginners books about shogi and one very bad book.
One of the good books lacks depth and the other has a lot of material,
indeed too much material, that I doubt that anyone has ever gotten
through it.
I believe that I can write a better or at least a more readable book
than either of these.
As far as my Killer Damiano's Defense is concerned, I have
demonstrated that White often leaves a piece en pris with the moves 1.
e4 e5 2. Nf3 f6 3. Nxe5 fxe5 and now Black is a piece up with an
easily winning game. I am hoping to get my friend Rybka to help me
with this book which of course will be a best seller.
Regarding "How to Talk Dirty in Japanese and English" I did not wrote
this book at all. It was a joint project between a Japanese doctor
with a medical degree from Berkeley and a English speaking Ugandan who
has been living for more than 20 years in Japan. I merely formatted
and designed the book. All the words come from them. This new edition
just has vastly improved Japanese language fonts. I improved on the
appearance and readability of the book but did not add, subtract or
change any of the words.
I say this because I have already received a complaint. One reader who
knows that my wife is Japanese wrote me, "If your wife had a hand in
it, don't trust her because she is, after all, a Japanese. She would
probably instinctively want to tone it down."
I had to write him back that my wife had nothing to do with this
edition and she has not even seen it yet (although she is sitting
right here five feet away from me). Actually, her Japanese
girlfriends, all of whom have read the book, are giving her a hard
time about this and she has to constantly explain to them that she did
not write the book and is not responsible for giving away the trade
secrets that the book contains.
