Sorry I had to cut of a large part of your message, because if I
don't, you might not even locate my answer admist a sea of words.

Enuf of my explanation ... but when I read that link you provided

One of the commentor "pconroy" actually quoted a guy named "William
Pfaff", in regarding the same issue.

Now how are you gonna argue with _that_ ??

Derivative economy, I agree. In fact, many countries (except for the
African countries who are like beggars) are living on derivative
economy. Even America.

Derivatives may mean many thing, but the most im****tant ones include:
derivative incomes based on prior investments and/or patent owned.

In fact, UK, US, Germany, France, and Italy are living mostly on
income generated from prior investments.

China, on the other hand, is surviving (I am not going to use the
world thriving, because it ain't) on the "bread-crumb effect" ...
essentially spillover from the rich.

When the bread-crumbs stop coming, that is, when the rich ain't rich
anymore, China will suffer.

India, on the other hand, is on the inventing surge. India is
inventing things like crazy.

China, on the other hand, seems to have stuck in what they have been
doing for the past 15 years --- producing goods based on price.

There's little or no invention from the Chinese front.

Take, for example, the recent episode of "Free Tibet" movement and
their attack on the Olympic Torch .... even in this we can see that
the Tibetans actually took charge of the matter --- they practically
invented the "Hate China Movement".

On the other hand, the Chinese? Poor chinks couldn't do anything but
yelling and *****ing, and hitting back with punches. ... that is, the
Chinese are only good at RE-acting .... they play second fiddle in
this.

If in social events the Chinese couldn't take charge, what do you
think what they can do in the technological front --- where the
Chinese are notoriously known as COPIER and FAKER.

I'm a Chinese, but I ain't that "China is God" type of Chinese. I see
the world as it is, and when the Chinese are fakers, I say so.

In China, there are 1.3 Billion "fakers". Perhaps there are about
1,000 inventors, but the 1.3 billion fakers have overwhelmed those who
genuinely contributed to the society.
