Below is the impact of the cyclone Nargis witneseed by myself.
1) Overview of Rangoon Town Area severely damaged and it can not be
expressed in words -
UTTER DEVASTATION or GOROUND ZERO.
2) According to my colleagues living in Hlaing Thar Yar, Dagon Myo Thit,
Dala, Yuzana Garden City - told me that these areas are tremendously
effected. All are flattened & flooded.
3) Kyauk Myaung, Tamwe Town****p - 99% of buildings' roofing were totally
damaged, some buildings fallen down & some lean against together.
4) More im****tantly, no electricity, no water supply and no gasoline & CNG
supply at all the gas pumps.
5) Most of 33KV Supply Towers & all electric posts around the town were
damaged, piping of city supply system damaged, 99% of all the trees were
trimed down from the roots.
6) Prices of all the buiding materials ( Zinc Roof, Roofing Nail & etc..)
getting increased by 300%. Food, Gorceries & Kitchen Utensils - increased
by
400% to 500%. Trans****tation Cost - 500% ( Bus Fare - e.g. from Kyauk
Myaung
to Hle Dan (before cyclone hit was 300 kyats per round trip & now about
Ks.
1500), Taxi Fare from Kyauk Myaung to Hledan - (before the storm was Ks.
2000 per onw way trip and now is Ks. 8000/-), (Taxi Fare From Highway
Terminal in North Okkalapa to Downtown - Ks. 150,000 per one way trip).
6) Buildings within the University of Rangoon (Main) were seriously
damaged.
7) Overall, Rangoon becomes very dark jungle without trees.

9) Everybody here is very frustruated, hopeless & things like waiting for
infectious diseases - diarrhea, dysentry, dangue fever & so on....
10) I will update you more and provide you photos from time to time.

12) Rest of my knowledge, some lines in Tamwe, Kamayut & Botataung (start
with 292, 502, 511,536, 544) are okay. As for cell phone & CDMA (start
with
50, 51 & 722), some are good & some are not ok. Generally speaking says
30%
okay.
