Go to Guangdong, Fujian and other southern provinces
in China, listen to the locals ...friends greet each other
with "have you eaten". To new acquaintences, they say:
"are you well". (meaning if you have eaten, you are
well)
This way of greeting is found, ...from Vietnam, Thailand
Malaysia, Singa****e and Indonesia...among Chinese
communities.
