Hard****p and starvation was not limited to China.  It was a worldwide
problem.  Perhaps, your mother may also grew up where food was not
taken for granted.  She may have gone through a time where she didn't
know where the next meal was coming from.

Of course, America's youths eat too much, and do less.  It's now a
health problem, not a starvation problem.
