Jim Walsh:

> Sadly, it seems you are right. Not quite as bad as Burma, but nearly so.

"The first 72 hours .... "

Said the leader of the Japanese Rescue Association, "is most
critical. After that the chance of survival of people buried
under debris rapidly diminishes." Upon hearing about China's
quake his organization immediately offered their experienced
rescue dogs, trained to find survivors in the rubble.

His team of dogs waited frustratingly in the Tokyo air****t.

UK's 10 member, specialized search-and-rescue team, visas in
hands, were stuck in Hong Kong, awaiting permission to enter
China. The NGO team from UK, has modern equipments to locate
survivors: acoustic locators, CO2 detectors, thermal imaging
cameras and video probes.

The US Pacific Fleet, offered the service of their squadrons
of Black Hawks and heavy duty Chinook helicopters. US Navy's
hospital ****ps Mercy and Hope, which played a critical role
in caring for the sick and wounded during the Asian tsunami,
were ordered to attention, and be prepare to set sail to the
S. China Sea.

"Authorities are still discussing overseas offers." said Mr.
Wang Zhenyao, head of China's Disaster Relief Division. "Now
even our military troops are not able to get there,"

Meanwhile, near the epicenter, the man who had been dangling
upside down in a crevice, expired. His left leg pinned under
a giant boulder amid the toppled buildings. Rubbles, stones,
and dust covered this town since Monday. His wife wept, hold
-ing the hand of their dead child.

Who was pinned under car-size concrete debris ....
