Well, my Mom grew up in the USA. You have used the "Have you eaten?"
argument 
to show that China can not bear to have democracy, since it is full of 
starving people (or people who remember starving),

Now apparently "Have you Eaten?" just means food not taken for granted
where 
she grew up.
