It's amazing that Israel does so badly in math, science, and reading.
And as I've posted above even at the highest levels they perform
poorly on the GMAT and relatively poorly in the international math
Olympiad (posted above/before).  A glance at the international
chemistry Olympiads and physics Olympiads shows that Israel seems weak
as well but they do not rank countries as a whole so comparisons are
difficult. Here's a sample of the 1999-2007 results. Note that Israel
did not participate in 2007, possibly because it's held in Iran?  Look
at the special prizes - year after year not one has been awarded to
Israel even though China, Taiwan, Korea, Hong Kong, and East Europe
nations snatch the "special prizes":
