The overwhelming majority of Taiwanese have opposed unification in the
near
future for many, many years now. The number has only gotten larger with
time.
"Throughout much of the last decade, polls consistently suggest that 70%
to
80% of all Taiwanese sup****t maintaining the status quo; although the
definition of the status quo is an area of intense debate. Immediate
reunification is currently a distant notion in Taiwan sup****ted by only
about
10% of Taiwanese residents and endorsed by none of the major political
parties." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_reunification
(along time ago) Ma dismissed DPP criticisms that the KMT sup****ts
unification with China, saying that while the KMT does consider "ultimate
cross-strait unification" an option in its cross-strait policy,
unification
can only be achieved after China has evolved into a country of freedom,
democracy and prosperity, and on condition that the majority of Taiwanese
voters consent to it.
