Why? The most likely way to get a virus is from someone who has your 
address in their address book, so knowing the sender should give you 
more reason to be suspicious.

Personally, I depend mostly on my domain mail server blocking almost all 
viruses. Other than that, my PC checker should stop any that get 
through, and after that, I'd need to have a very good reason to open a 
suspicious attachment, like a believable explanation in the text. Anyone 
who's ever had a PC completely trashed by a virus probably treats 
attachments with similar caution.

Anyway, binaries shouldn't be posted to non-binary newsgroups. Lots of 
people on dial-up download messages automatically, and there's nothing 
more annoying than some twat adding a couple of meg to the procedure for 
no good reason. Posts with attachments of any sort automatically get the 
poster dumped in the killfile in this house, let me tell you.

There's plenty of free webspace about to post stuff to. (Fortunecity, 
Angelfire.. a thousand others).
