Isn't it just.

Cromwell closing the theatres,  Edward expelling the Jews,  The 'right of 
the first night', Indian 'freedom fighters',  French involvement in the 
Revolt of the Colonies,  who won the 100 Years War,  what did happen on
that 
ridge at Waterloo and many many more,  and that's before we get to the 
loopier end where people ask silly questions like 'did Robin Hood/Arthur 
really exist or 'who really wrote Shakespeare?'
