Cuban blogger does not get exit permit for Spain trip

Cuban blogger Yoani Sánchez says the government has not approved her
request to travel to Spain in time to receive a prestigious award.
The 32-year-old says Cuban authorities told her her case ''is under
review,'' postponing but never officially rejecting her exit permit
application, which is required of all Cubans traveling abroad.
The creator of Havana's ''Generation Y'' blog has gained international
fame with her wry comments on island life in recent months.
''I think the message is that bad children are not allowed to leave
home,'' says Sánchez, whose blog frequently criticizes the communist-run
government
