Remember the "Soup Nazi" episode of Seinfeld? Well, I attended a "Soup
Nazi Party" last night at a friends' house. This is the concept. Seven
contestants prepared soup of their choice complete with wine that they
deem, is the best to drink with the soup. The soups and wine are tasted
by about 40 invited guests that included two renowned French chefs and
sommeliers.
The party took place in a private home a the setting was very casual
rather then stuffy - there was no dress code.
Here are the soups we tasted:
Spicy Meatball Soup topped with Aged Cheddar and Cilantro
Roasted Creamy Pecan Soup topped with Scallions and Jack Cheese
Yellow Tomato Bisque with Bacon Bits
Roasted Red Pepper Soup
Thai Chicken Soup with ****itake Mushrooms
Thai Sweet and Sour Shrimp Soup
The wines came from France, Italy, Argentina, Austria and California
The winner was the stunning Yellow Tomato Bisque and the prize was the
Golden Ladle.
