2008-06-09 06:30:28 - A powerful explosion tore through a mine in
eastern Ukraine on Sunday, trapping at least 37 miners who had been
making repairs to improve safety conditions in the mine; four workers
above ground were injured.
Donetsk is located in southeastern Ukraine on the Kalmius river rich
in coal fields.The accident in their coal mines are regular
features.Rescue teams heard the voices of some of the trapped miners
after attempting to get to them through a damaged shaft, Deputy Prime
Minister Oleksandr Turchynov told a television channel.
