I think as long as the country will give you a pass****t, you can
compete for them in the Olympics . Arab countries used to buy Olympic
teams from Africa, there was a guy who won a medal for Qatar who's
actually Kenyan.  It used to be a lot more prevalant, you used to see
all kinds of John smith type names competing for countries like UAE,
Bahrain, etc.

the most obvious example is Kirsty Coventry, the "Zimbabwean"
swimmer.  I'm surprised that with all their economic problems, they
invested in luring her to their team.  I guess it shows how desperate
Mugabe is for something to hang some national pride on.
